Hold on to instruction do not let it go; guard it well for it is your life. Proverbs 4:13
In God's word you have life. In God's word you have blessings. In God's word you have promises. In God's word you have deliverance. In God's word you have hope. In God's word you have everything. This verse tells us to hold onto his instruction. This doesn't just mean to repent of your sins it means to hold onto every single thing that his word has.
The first few chapters of Proverbs continually mention holding onto wisdom and how she will present us with crowns of splendor. The wisdom of the Lord comes through his word. It comes through trials. It comes through blessings. Hold onto each thing God teaches you and don't let it go. Hold on because wisdom will come through and will bless you. The last part is probably the biggest reason why we must hold on and continually seek the wisdom of the lord. After we have wisdom we must guard it well because quite literally it is our life. It hit me that without God we have no life. Without his mercy or his wisdom we have nothing. Our entire basis for being is surrounding the fact that all we truly are guaranteed in life is our safety in God's hands. God promises us so much in his word and we must daily remember those promises and keep them in our hearts because they are the only sure thing that gives us life.
Dear Lord,
We thank you for all of the guarantees given in your book. We pray that daily as we meet with you that we will gain wisdom. You are our life and we pray you help us to hold on to everything you have for us lord. We thank you for the gift of your wisdom and pray that we never stop learning from you and that we never stop hungering for what you have lord. You have given us life and we thank you for that. Amen. |
