The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases; His mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning; great is Your faithfulness. Lamentations 3:22-23

Each New Year provides an opportunity to do away with the old and to look toward the new. Whatever has been has passed and what is to come is near. There is a new hope and a great possibility for a wonderful tomorrow if only we will lay hold of the opportunity that each New Year provides.

The world has hope at the start of each year, but we as Christians are able to have hope beyond just New Year’s. We have hope for each day of each and every year. Because of God’s love and His mercy, we have the opportunity to experience newness each day.

You will fail everyday in someway. Despite this, God each day offers us a new chance. Each day, we have a new choice to make. This freedom of choice is a most beautiful gift. We can continue to forfeit the freedom and fullness that Christ offers by being deceived of our choice. We can buy into the deception and remain ignorant of God’s new mercies and new opportunities.  We can remain enslaved by our hurts, our doubts, or our sins. Or we can remember that because we are children of God we do have a right to and can choose to follow God in all faithfulness.  We can take each day to further discover and further live our identity and freedom in Christ.

Because of His faithfulness, we know that we have a new chance at the new life that Christ offers. These mercies will never end. There is nothing that will separate us from God’s love and there is no bond that is too tight that He cannot free us from.  Regardless of who we were or what we did yesterday, we can invite God in today to change every one of our tomorrows.

All that we are required to do is to take hold of the new chances God offers and choose to follow Him each day. Invite Christ in to change you today, tomorrow, and forever.

Precious Father,
If it were not for Your word, this chance at new life would be all too cliché and too good to be true. Because of Your goodness and faithfulness, it is not too good to be true. Because of Your precious mercies and Your great love, the truth of who You are sets us free from every bond that holds us back. We ask that each day of this New Year would be a new day of a new life. Whether we have been Christians for many years or only a few days, we pray that You would bring us into the fullness of Your grace. We ask in Your name that You would reveal to us our true identity and victory in You. Take control of our lives God, do with them and with us what You would want. May all glory and praise be to Your name, Amen.
