So we see that they were unable to enter because of unbelief. Hebrews 3:19 In the first few chapters of the book, the author of Hebrews alludes to the Israelites who tested God in the wilderness. Despite God proving faithful in setting them free from slavery in Egypt, they still doubted His ability to provide a Promised Land. Their unbelief led to disobedience and their disobedience disqualified them from entering the true rest and paradise in the Promised Land. In much the same way, we disqualify ourselves from true intimacy and fellowship with God when we doubt His power. Our doubt leads to our disobedience. Our disobedience is a door to the enemy’s condemnation further snowballing this cyclical pattern. The more we disobey, the more we doubt and therefore the more we block the power of God from being realized in our lives. God is everywhere but at times He may seem far away. The truth is that we are the ones guilty of pushing Him away with our disbelief and continued disobedience. The only way to end this cycle and to live out the restoration provided by Christ Jesus is to arm ourselves with the truth. Are you a slave to disbelief? Do you doubt that the God of the universe could truly love you simply because He created you? Why don’t you believe that the One who parted the Red Sea to set His people free would do the same for you, His child? Why do you let doubt grab a hold of you and why do you let it prevent you from realizing the purpose God has for you? Why have you clung to the lie that you are unlovable when the truth is that God loved you so much He sent His only son so that you might know the fullness of His mercy and love? The truth is that God is equipped and willing to handle whatever hurt, whatever doubt, whatever sin, whatever past, whatever present, and whatever future obstacle that might stand in the way of true relationship with Him. Do not let the enemy’s deception lead to unbelief. Do not let your doubt lead to disobedience. Do not let disobedience lead to the destruction and death of your spirit. Stop disqualifying yourself from what Christ’s sacrifice gives you the right to be: sons of God who have victory over darkness. Live the true and abundant life that God has called you to! Take your unbelieving, sinful, and hurting heart to Him. Let Him create it anew. Open your heart to His hand so that He might truly touch and change you – so that you might finally, truly experience the rest He has prepared specifically for you. Father God, Forgive our wayward hearts. Forgive us for the doubt that creeps in and prevents us from coming to You. Remind us that You are listening and open to hearing about everything going on. Help us to bring our doubt before You and let the truth of who You are and what You have done set us free from that bond. God, show us who You are and who we are in You. Teach us to bring You glory and help us to walk in victory. Free us from deception and forgive us of all disobedience. Bless us with the joy that comes from knowing we are free from the old and that You are creating in us the new. Amen. |
